As well as being expert tree surgeons and professional arborists, we also have extensive experience in the design, construction and landscaping of major projects for schools and local councils. This project involved the renovation of a dilapidated school playground in Croydon.
The project took 2 months to complete and was completed on time and on budget. Recycling and sustainability were key concerns to the project .
The school playground project involved
Click on the images below to see pictures of the finished playground. As a Key Stage 1 and 2 playground, animal motifs were included in the design. These included snakes, dragons and crocodiles. A boat design was also included along with a water feature. Raised planters made from railway sleepers were also a feature - used for vegetable and fruit gardens as well as sensory planting. Innovative use was again made of railway sleepers acting as retaining walls for raised pathways and hard landscaping.
The school did not have a budget for planting but we supplied many hundreds of plants free of charge. The overall result was an extremely durable, low maintenance playground that will happily survive years of abuse by kids and teachers alike.
