However pretty ivy looks, it can sometimes be allowed to grow a litle too enthusiatically as was the case with the block of council flats to the left.
In order to remove the ivy safely, scaffolding had to be erected around the lift shaft of the six story block of flats. The ivy removal and site clearance took around two days.
The dangers of unchecked Ivy

- Ivy can ease water penetration and subsequent damp in buildings
- Ivy can cause significant damage to wooden door and window frames
- Ivy can impede other plants from flourishing in the garden
- Ivy can displace tiles and roof covering resulting in internal water damage
